Over the past few months, we have made good progress in some areas of development, most notably with the new map editor. We have also cleared up most of the unresolved game mechanic issues, including details of the skills, spell/feat and crafting systems. However otherwise, progress has been variable and slow.

We know that during this time it has become increasingly frustrating for you, as you want to play Phobos. We also appreciate that it must be equally disappointing that we cannot give an estimated time for release. So from now on we are going to start sharing more information on development by continually updating a to-do list. We are going to be keeping the supporters particularly well updated with progress, and expect them to nag us if we’re not working hard enough. We have also closed several public boards. This is for two reasons: firstly, less unrelated material for staff to moderate or respond to will speed up development; secondly, we feel that they gave the wrong impression about our own progress.

This doesn’t mean we want less contact with you, quite the opposite. By having a more public and honest report of development, we hope to give ourselves a well-needed kick in the right direction and to keep striding (not crawling) forward towards a release. We have been trying to do the same within staff, to improve communication. This is actually already showing signs of working; development over the last 2-3 weeks has been much better than before. We want to see the release as much as you do!

The updated to-do list for release may be found community forum.
